Gujarati Bhakri
Also known as Rotla, Thick Roti, or Gujarati Village Bread, Bhakri is a traditional, thick, and wholesome flatbread loved across Gujarat. Made by kneading whole wheat flour (or sometimes millet flours like bajra or jowar) with a touch of salt and ghee, then roasting slowly on a tawa, it has a soft yet hearty texture and a comforting, earthy flavour.
Ingredients: Whole wheat flour (atta) or millet flour (bajra/jowar), salt, ghee, and water.
Perfect with shak (sabzi), pickle, jaggery & ghee, or masala chai.
Healthy Version: Can be made using multigrain flour or 100% millet flour for added fibre, minerals, and a gluten-free option.
