Gulab Jamun
Also known as Kala Jamun (darker version), Lal Mohan (in Nepal), or simply Indian Milk Dumplings, this is one of India’s most loved desserts. Soft, melt-in-the-mouth balls made from khoya (reduced milk solids) or milk powder are deep-fried until golden brown, then soaked in fragrant sugar syrup infused with rose water and cardamom.
Ingredients: Khoya/milk powder, plain flour, sugar, water, ghee or oil, cardamom, rose water (or saffron for variation).
Served warm or at room temperature, Gulab Jamun is a festive favourite and a perfect sweet ending to any Indian meal.
